I'm in a new art history class and after one day I feel more inspired and awed than I have in a long time. My professor is incredible, and in about ten minutes he both talked me into welcoming artwork I've never liked before and becoming obsessed with what I loved. Rothko is a painter that I have loved for a long time. He is all about the richness of color, and the way opposing colors on the color wheel cause a kind of vibration when placed next to each other (or in Rothko's paintings, on top of each other). If you can see these in person, that is how they are meant to be seen but these are pretty good quality images.
The last two images are paintings I did on mood and color in a rothko-like fashion.
And in the words of Bob Ross "It's a beautiful day. Color makes you happy, it really does."
